Can I just skip over all the ways I absolutely, Positively love this piece beyond words and just offer you my hand in marriage? Because that was that was totally amazing, totally in character, gruesome and gorgeous at the same time. Your humor's dry like a good gin, it's so pitch-perfect and every little thing about it is so fitting for this sort of scenario, and the way you blend the 'verses is so seamless it's almost maddening. Your characters are just so searing, even if they're all at odds with themselves and each other. I think you've captured sacrifice perfectly here, even if there may be no reward but death.

I love how you pay attention to the little things, like how Rhodey thinks the robots like Pepper more than him, and how Tony can't wrap his mind around the idea that Rhodey's been moonlighting as Iron Man behind his back, and how Pepper knows what's needed from her, knows she can cling to her professionalism even if she worries about Tony and Rhodey both. Gorgeous, all of it. You even make the Grotesque of Rhodey's mangled suit seem beautiful and lifelike. I wish I could write these characters like this, perfect in their imperfections, stacked so precariously because their edges just don't fit. And don't get me started on the Caesar references, as if Brutus and Cassius were simply looking out for Caesar in his time of need, even if the only thing they could do to make a situation better is aide in his demise. That's quite the spin on the tale, missy.

I think you just made me fall in love with this fandom all over again. *bookmarks fic, friends you*
