I haven't been able to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide yet, because it crashes every single time I try to even open the sign-up sheet. But it's okay -- I can wait. YESSSS! GOT IT. Do you have any idea how excited I was to be able to click the little drop-down that said Star Wars: X-Wing: Rogue Squadron? So psyched that they're allowing it this year; Star Wars as a whole may be huge, but the X-Wing fandoms are among my tiniest.

In other Yuletide news, I have been F5-ing the Yuletide letters list like it's my job. I'm a little sad, because I am having far fewer "YES! someone requested [x]!" moments this year, but I still have a decently-sized list of prompts to set aside. This is why it's an excellent idea to write a letter and to include your fandoms and prompts in it: people like me read them and start writing extra Yuletide treats in November. I know it has become a time-honored personal tradition, but I am determined not to write my story at the last possible second this year. DETERMINED. I'll get it done a few days early, if it kills me! (It might kill me.)

This is a terrible, terrible question. The second I read it, approximately 14 million options flew through my head. I don't know if "You Keep Me Hanging On" counts, given that it was really just Quinn singing it with back-up vocals from the Cheerios, but I think of it much more as a group performance than a solo one, given that the choreography and the staging were what really drew me in. I love "Like a Prayer" from the Madonna episode, with the choir and all, and "Ride with Me," since it has the distinction of being the one and only song we've ever heard them sing "live," without prerecorded vocals, and the enthusiasm is infectious.

But then I really thought about it, and realized that, though it's not the full group, my answer was kind of easy.

Favorite group performance: "Bad Romance"

HOW COULD I NOT PICK THIS?? I don't think I have ever howled that hard at a television moment. I remember distinctly that my mother was in the basement when the performance started, and that when the music started, I started shrieking that she had to come and see this (and she thought I had lit something on fire in the kitchen, but that is besides the point). The energy, the intensity, the fact that a bunch of different girls (well, and Kurt) got to sing the solos, the boys' hilariously bewildered reactions (apart from Artie and Mike, who thought it was the coolest ever), the choreography, and most of all the costumes, totally made this for me. It is just a delight. It's one of the few Glee performances where I will open up an episode just to watch that two-minute song.

Everyone stares at Tina in the hallway. Five months ago, she definitely couldn't have handled this; back when she wore all black every day and kept her head down because she didn't want anyone to notice her, and she spoke with a stutter because she needed an excuse to avoid talking.

Today, in a blonde wig and a dress made entirely of bubbles, Tina holds her head up high under the attention and she ignores the whispers and the laughter. She looks fierce and she knows it; that's all she needs.

But it doesn't exactly hurt her confidence when Mike calls her name and jogs over from across the hall. It's a little unexpected; they were partnered together in the duets competition last fall and they've obviously spoken, but Mike tends to be pretty quiet. They've never had a reason to have a long conversation or go find each other in the halls.

"Tina, hey," says Mike, pulling up in front of her locker. He actually sounds kind of out of breath.

She smiles up at him, a little nonplussed. "Hi."

"I just wanted to tell you how awesome what you guys did was," he says, grinning, and Tina slowly smiles.

Ahahaha. YOU ARE NOT ALONE, re. Yuletide letters. I have a handful that I am setting aside for later, JUST IN CASE, because one delightful thing about going back to Atlanta several days prior to Christmas with all my shopping done is that I have hours upon hours of nothing to do except watch the bag cats try to kill each other. Which is why I wrote four fics last year!

I am thinking about trying that! That's the nice thing about being through-ish with grad apps -- I'm used to having to work really hard on EVERYTHING evenings and weekends, and now it's kind of like "didn't I have things to do, I NEED TO BE DOING THINGS DDDDDDDDDD:" So we will see if I can channel that into fic! I wish I had your gumption :O

(IT IS BEST *CUDDLES IT*)

(also tell me I'm not going to hell for listening to Elvis's Christmas album and really really really wanting to put up the tree *weeps)

Nothing wrong with that! Clearly it means you are DESTINED TO WRITE THIS :D :D :D

(Ahahaha BAD INFLUENCE. *turns "Blue Christmas" up to eleven and goes to the front closet!!!!!*)

I AM GLAD TO HEAR THAT SOMEONE ELSE STALKS THE YULETIDE LETTERS. I have been looking at them all day to see which request I might get. Can we just skip over this week and go straight to Thanksgiving weekend/Yuletide assignments/other such wonderful things? This week sort of serves no purpose for me.

Hahaha, Bad Romance! I haven't watched that performance since the episode, I forgot how much I liked it. And I never noticed Mike and Artie being like YEAHHHH DO IT AGAIN!!! Your Mike/Tina drabble is so cute. I don't want them to break up. D:

Is it terrible that I'm looking forward to Tuesday night because I want the promo for "Furt" already? UGH, what am I turning into.

Thank you for the reminder. I was finally able to sign up today and do my letter.

I'm debating going back and trying add another request but I think I won't. Its lovely to have Yuletide in the air.

It's okay, I totally spent fifteen minutes trying to input a single name on the Yuletide form, h-haha. Technically I could have waited until later when it was less busy, but really, where's the fun in that?

YOU MAKE AN EXCELLENT POINT. I will allow this week for happy Kurt/cute dancing ND kids/the "Furt" promo, and if Darren Criss is actually in this episode, I may or may not do my own happy dance around the room. I at least want cute text messages, writers!
