need sleep so badly
I watch American Idol more because my mom is into it than because I particularly like it, but I have a new favorite contestant this year! (Singing-wise, at least; I found her manner slightly off-putting, but A: I think the producers probably told her to play up the Harvard and White House shit, and B: she seemed very nervous, so I'm good with cutting her some slack). This is Molly Swenson.
She walked out and I was like, man, she looks familiar; and then she said she just graduated from Harvard, and that rang a bell, and then they introduced her as Molly and I realized why I recognized her.
In early December, I went through a phase where I did nothing but hop from random a cappella video to random a cappella video on YouTube, primarily thanks to Glee and The Sing Off reawakening my a cappella ~*feelings*~. One of the random groups that I stumbled across was the Harvard Opportunes, where tall blonde Molly was one of my favorite soloists. I remember even trying to Google her once I realized she had graduated, because I wanted to find out if she had a music career going, but I was totally unable to find her. And then her face showed up on my TV! SO WEIRD.
It is just totally weird to see someone who I posted a YouTube video of a month ago standing on my TV in front of Jennifer Lopez.
Also, she's in the background on this one, but I'm throwing it in here because I love it.

I don't tend to find Glee's "inspiring" lines very inspiring or touching (they tend to make me want to barf), so I went for funny, and for funny, there is no better source than Brittany, and there is one Brittany line that made me laugh harder than all the rest. (Though it really came down to a competition between this and Rachel's "I'm like Tinkerbell, Finn. I need applause to live.")

Your favorite quote: "I've been here since first period. I had a cold, and I took all my antibiotics at the same time, and now I don't know how to leave."
I know it's not a particularly flashy, showy, or super memorable line (like ... everything ever that is written for Sue Sylvester), and it doesn't have the same following as some of Brittany's other memorable quotes, like the "gay sharks" one, but it is my favorite. (A) it makes me laugh til I cry/wheeze, and (B) omg Brittany I have so been there. Not with antibiotics, but with cold/cough medicine. I can barely put one foot in front of the other when I take that shit.
Brittany has decided to focus on making as little noise as possible. Not because she actually needs to be quiet; just because she wants to see if Santana will forget she's there. She walks on the toes of her sneakers to avoid squeaking; she presses her practice bag against her side to keep her bottles of protein cleanse from clinking. She keeps her head as still as possible while she goes down the hall, because she's pretty sure her ponytail makes loud swishing noises. Her brain feels like somebody wrapped it in the gauze that her brother had to wear after he got a cut on the jungle gym.
"Okay," Santana explodes, turning toward her, and Brittany freezes. She was totally caught. Her sneakdom failed. "What is up with this today?" When she says 'this,' she waggles her fingers up and down Brittany's body. "You're all over the place."
"I took my antibiotics," Brittany explains. "Everything is heavy." Mostly her arms and legs, but also her eyelids. Her eyes feel puffy.
Santana grabs her arm and pulls her over against the nearest bank of lockers. Her hand is very cold on Brittany's skin. There's a seriously nerdy guy (Brittany is pretty sure she made out with him last year) reaching for the locker that Santana just steered Brittany into. Santana glares at him, hand on her hip. "Move it, Urkel," she says, and he quickly scurries away without his books.
"Don't say stuff like that so loud," Santana says to Brittany. She sounds kind of mad.
Brittany gazes at her. "...Urkel?"
She scoffs lightly. "No. You can't let Coach Sylvester hear that you're sick; she'll put you in the quarantine room."
"I kind of like the quarantine room," Brittany admits, after a couple seconds of consideration. "It's dark and really quiet, and I'm pretty sure there's a singing mouse." Beat. She seriously considers it. "Maybe it was a hamster."
Santana looks at her for several seconds, then she shakes her head quickly and says, "Point is, if you're in the quarantine room, you're not at practice, and if you're not at practice, you can't come to Nationals." She tosses her hair. "Besides, Glee rehearsal would totally suck without you."
"Oh," says Brittany, blinking slowly. She decides: "Missing Nationals would be bad." But Santana said that Glee sucks without her, too, so she smiles a little bit.
"Yes," says Santana, and she slips her arm into Brittany's and they walk down the hall, which is so good; Brittany was tired of wandering. Santana won't let her get lost. "That would be bad. Which is why we're going to tell Coach that you hit your head practicing a double tuck." She sneers at Rachel Berry as they pass her. "You can't get quarantined for a concussion," Santana says matter-of-factly and they sweep down the hall together.
Santana is the best.
